Technical

I'm currently working as a developer for Traveller's Tales, the company behind Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman and Lego Indiana Jones.

I have more than 25 years' programming experience, 15 of those in the IT industry, where I've used a wide variety of platforms, languages and tools and been Chief Technical Officer, Chief Technical Architect and joint CEO.

I designed and developed the platform used for the biggest interactive TV text system in the world. I've created point-and-click adventure games; localised software into Welsh, Gaelic and Greek; developed multi-platform Flash publishing solutions and - in the last five years - released more than 40 commercial products onto the market, a number of which have won awards.

If you want to know more about my technical expertise, please take a look at my CV.

LEGO® Console Games

I am currently working on engine code and game mechanics for a number of AAA LEGO console/PC games, including LEGO Harry Potter and LEGO Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The Crisial Engine

I've loved LucasArts adventures since Day of the Tentacle and The Secret of Monkey Island. That being the case, I jumped at the chance to create a point-and-click adventure engine, wedged in between some of our other projects.

Educational Games

At Awen I was involved in the development of over 40 educational multimedia CD-ROMs. We won a number of pre-school and nursery awards and gained two BAFTA nominations.

Awen Build System

In 2008-2009 I created a new automated build and publish system for Awen to make it easy for any of the developers to build and release products direct to clients.

Awen Module Framework

Over the years I created several frameworks and build systems at Awen, learning a little more each time, progressing from technology to technology. I was rather proud of the last incarnation.

xBrowser

At DITG I devised and developed xBrowser. This was a product that took XML scene definitions as input and compiled to OpenTV binary modules, then injected the modules into a Sky broadcast carousel to be parsed by a browser app written for the Sky set top box.

Websites

Over the years I've handcoded many websites from scratch, but these days stick to existing CMSes and frameworks - primarily Drupal, Wordpress and CodeIgniter.
